Ohio? First they vote to de-fund Planned Parenthood and now a heinous Fetal Heartbeat Bill. And right after the Catholic Church essentially murdered that woman in Ireland. Those fuckers just can't help themselves. It looks like we're going to have to drive a wooden stake into the GOP's heart, shoot it with silver bullets, and expose it to prolonged sunlight.
Unbelievable.

(404 posts)When people of strong faith are shown evidence contradicting their beliefs then react counter-intuitively. They cling even more tightly to their beliefs instead of modifying them.
So, yes, it will take wooden stakes, silver bullets, prolonged sunlight and making them all live next to Fukishima to get a good dose of all that "healthy radiation" Ann coulter was talking about.

Have you ever seen them learn anything from an electoral defeat? Or any other kind of defeat?

(31,706 posts)Part of this is a "revenge" factor...of the Democrats doing well in the past election but not well enough to take control of the legislature. Call it a legislative tantrum...another chance to push through an agenda rushpublican still feel "empowered" to do based on 2010. This is a way for them to pretend 2012 didn't exist. It's throwing red meat at the base in hopes of rallying them and ending the pity party.
There's also another issue at play here...time. Kaisich and his ilk will be facing re-election in 2014 and time's awastin'. His poll numbers combined with the poor rushpublican showing in the elections means a brusing re-election battle ahead and precious little time to ramrod through whatever right wing noise that they can. He tried busting unions and got busted...here's a chance to rally the "social conservatives" and fundies. It's a gamble Kaisich needs to take if he's gonna have a chance to win in two years. Hopefully he'll get stopped again.

All this spells trouble for them . . . trouble that they don't seem willing to remedy.
