It doesn't seem to be about Russia most of the time. It seems though provoking at times, and at other times it seems like a conspiracy channel. Anybody watch it regularly that can give me their opinion of the network?

(3,860 posts)At first glance it seems a welcome exposure of all the hard truths the corporate media in this country won't touch, but after a while the underlying propaganda agenda starts to show through.
The broadcast channel tries to appear reasonable and objective but their web page is a bit more blatant. Their pro-Iranian slant is particularly noticeable.

But it is Russian TV for Americans, meant to persuade and influence us to the Russian view. Fortunately for us, RT's attempts at propaganda are very obvious.
With the exception of the American announcers, the RT announcers do not understand American culture, our outlook on life, our assumptions about the world and politics.
Still, I find it very interesting. It gives the Russian view. I also like to read German and French newspapers as well as, of course, the Guardian and other British news.
We should never abandon critical thinking no matter what media we are watching or hearing. That's my view.

(40,416 posts)I get RT on my local MHz Worldview PBS feed. Love the International Mysteries, especially the Swedish Wallander series. I miss the Aussie Football League (Go Swans!). But RT, Russia Today, should be retitled Rubbish Today.
Thom Hartman has jumped the shark, a conspiracy theorist which is basically all Rubbish Today has on their feed, idiot bloggers on fuzzy Inet video links.
Too bad. I always liked him until he started talking rubbish.
