(To Their Care...)
SHOULD ANYONE WANT TO DONATE TO THE CARE FOR THIS SWEET PAIR, HERE IS THE CHIP-IN PAGE: http://lynnehendricks.chipin.com/the-bonded-pitt-couple-leah-and-luke
Sorry, I've been away from DU and I have to get right back to some urgent academic work, but...
To all who tried to help and to everyone who cared, we have made the miracle happen (with A LOT of help and a great foster). I have to get right back to work, but I wanted to let everyone know that the two pittie lovers HAVE BEEN SAVED!
Thank you to everyone. Please Adopt. Please spay and neuter. Please don't shop at stores that sell animals. We lose FAR too many of these battles. But we won this one. They are out of the shelter, off of any kill list, and on their way to safety!
Please see their official rescue link for the story: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=537803389581356&set=t.536968710&type=3&theater
Such a happy miracle!

(or pretty darn close to it).
FOR THOSE WHO ASKED -
They are in CLEWISTON, FLORIDA
Their official rescue page is here: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=537803389581356&set=t.536968710&type=3&theater
Please, I beg of you DUers, I need your help.
Here is the amazing photo of Luke and Leia, two pits who need help in the worst way:

I think this is one of the sweetest expressions of emotion and love between animals that I've ever seen.
And right now, they are doomed.
1) If anyone knows an effective pit rescue who can step in and save this amazing couple, please, let us know.
2) Just by sharing this photo around the web, it will help us build support for saving these two lovebirds.
3) Does anyone know how to get this on reddit or 4chan? I think this is a really significant animal photo and I think it could go viral.
Is anyone else as moved by this photo as I am? I think it's just amazing.
Right now, their story is heartbreaking. We have a small window in which we could make this into a story with a happy ending.

(15,438 posts)But please people! If you're not a professional breeder, please, please, please, spay and neuter your pets! This will extend their lives, stop terminal diseases like ovarian cancers, and prevent unintended pregnancies - not to mention, make for a happier pet.
All my four dogs are spayed and neutered, and I've just adopted a stray Siamese kitten (6 months old) who I'll bring to our vet next week to have spayed as well.
If you love your pets and want the best for them, please, please have them spayed and neutered.

(4,507 posts)in that second photo for sure.
Some people need to get in touch with why they are so heartless. It ain't the dogs that are damaged in this story, folks...

- like the one of my parents driving away from their wedding.

(3,818 posts)I missed seeing this the first time you posted it in the top part of your message and I was looking for it too. Maybe if you put a box of asterisks around it, more people would see it. Just a suggestion. Sounds like the dogs are going to a great home -- she rescued another dog at the same time I read! Well, I'm happy to donate towards the vet bills. With five cats and a dog myself, I know how expensive it can get.

(3,818 posts)I think you're the wonderful one doing animal rescue. I just help on a small scale, rescuing animals here and there and donating to animal rescue causes.

(4,507 posts)Their rescue angle, Paige Cloud, is taking on a lot of work and could certainly use the help.
This turned out to be a really happy story.
jsmirman
(4,507 posts)in fairness, I'm not sure that it was up yet...
But Paige really is taking on a lot in being their rescue hero, so any help would really help...
