South Carolina does not have party registration, so its primaries are "open:" Registered voters are free to participate in the Republican contest, as long as they skip the Democratic primary, and vice versa.

But he'd make a helluva mess and hurt a lot of people.

In the epilogue to Oath and Honor, Liz Cheney touches on this and just how easily somebody like Trump could bypass them all. I don't share your faith that those will stand.

(8,685 posts)The problem is in a two person race Trump has a good chance to win. All it takes is some global crisis, or economic meltdown or a number of other issues that might hit as an "October Surprise". Biden will get blamed and Trump could win. Also don't forget the "Comey letter".
