Damn. That complicates a mighty good narrative:
Democrats have released ads on Bain and Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said this month of Romney, He was a corporate-buyout specialist at Bain Capital. He dismantled companies. He cut jobs. He forced companies into bankruptcy and he outsourced jobs and sent jobs overseas.
Obama campaign strategists are also promising that the current flareup over Bain is just a taste of whats to come in the general election, if Romney is the nominee.
As an investigation by the Hill found, though, Democratic campaigns have actually received more money from Bain executives than Republicans in recent years.

(41,832 posts)I had a small business. I had 6 employees. I know for sure that only me and one other person from my business did any kind of political donation. She was a Republican. If someone had looked up my business it would have shown it was 50/50 split for Dems and Republicans. I would sure hope I wasn't labeled as anything but the bluest of blue businesses.
My point is, just because employees from Bain gave to Dems... it just doesn't mean that much

(50,943 posts)The principals of the business should be the focus as well as any PACs they might have.
Another factor that should be considered if available is their voting history.

I love this narrative. Hell, I love the fact that Bain is a homonym for the villian in this summers big Batman film. I think teh demonization of Bain and, by extension, Romney, could be a winning tactic in the fall. But if the Dems have also been cheerful Bain patrons, for whatever reason, it makes that story a little harder to sell.

(13,258 posts)It looks at a very short and selective period in time during which the Democrats have been in power.
Anyone who's been around politics at all knows that the elected officials in power will draw more donations than those not in power. "It's just business, nothing personal" but it is political.
I see no attempt by the author of this article to look at the donations during, for example, bush's years in office. The article begins during the intermission after having missed the entire first 3 acts.
It is dishonest.

(30,674 posts)it must have been hard for employees to give to Dems in such a Repub dominated corporate culture. If I'm reading it correctly. those donors are real patriots. A Taint of hypocrisy in the Dems taking money from Bain? A tiny drop, perhaps. compared to the giant prehistoric mammoths of GOP-ocrisy on the Right.
