"Uh, President Obama can't run again so he isn't going to be beaten by Christie" (me)"Then Christie will win regardless."
"How? Do you think the Democrats won't run anyone for President in 2016?"
"He saved NJ, no one will beat him"
(puts face in hand and wonders ho people tasked with important jobs can be so ignorant) He hasn't saved anything, NJ is a long way off from recovery, and people are pissed at how slaw it's taking along the shore"
"He'll still win."
(I start to smile) Do you know who Hillary Clinton is?
The terror that began to creep over her face was priceless.
You Liberals will all burn in hell and off she stomped.
This was the Fundie who stated recently her sole purpose on Earth is to make babies, but she can't so instead of adopting a non-white baby she's off and running with fertility treatments, so far unsuccessfully.
She came over when she saw my Michelle & the President desktop background today. She thought it was inappropriate and was mader than a witch who fell off her broom.
Couldn't post earlier, ownership was in today to tell us that because of the power failure that caused us to close for four days, we were losing Christmas eve day and News Years Eve Day and had to work, even though they didn't pay us for those days.
We'll never get them back.
I hate fucking Republicans.

Line up another job before you do that though....

(11,175 posts)I interpreted the OP as meaning that, for four days after Sandy, the company was closed, so no one could work, and they won't get paid for those days. My guess is that the employer can get away with not paying them for time they didn't work, unless there's a contract to the contrary (a collective bargaining agreement or an employee manual that a court would treat as a contract).
Some of the employers in the NYC area are paying workers for the days of closure, even though they didn't work. As the OP shows, that's a good move in terms of employee morale, but it's certainly costly to the employer.

(6,663 posts)Christie looks terrible, and I'm not sure he could hold up to the rigors of a campaign for president. And if he actually won, then he probably couldn't handle the stress of the presidency. His obesity is a major health concern.

(131 posts)They keep saying they are going to run Christie and win. But Christie can't run anywhere and he would represent all that is wrong with America and confirm what other nations think of us. We are greedy, overweight, bullies, with no self control.

(3,783 posts)I get this crap all of the time from Right wingers and I have started looking at them innocently and saying, "I'm a patriot so of course I support our president."
This usually shuts them up for a few minutes, but no guarantee with the fundies.

Ought to be entertaining to look it up in Conservapedia. For those wanting to tread down that path, here it is:

Nota bene: Conservapedia is the product of Andrew Schafly, the son of Phyllis Schafly. Us women's right folk should all remember her.

(1,361 posts)Christie won't propose raising taxes which would help somewhat. Some of the problem is because of underfunding of public employees' pensions. He won't fully fund the state's share of the annual pension bill. Nor does he make any effort to pay the past due amount.
Those items should endear him to fundies. The problem is there are fewer and fewer fundies every year.
He has 62% approval in the state. He may be re-elected to the governorship. His biggest problem is that the state employees will be out in force to vote against him. In the last election, the state employee union members stayed home because Corzine instituted furlough days for state workers. The election that Christie won was one with low voter turnout.

(493 posts)Christie will not pass the medical exam required . If he does not lose some weight and begin taking care of himself I doubt he will live much longer then 2020. I am not being snide, it is just the fact, he has a hard time talking without puffing , I wonder what two flights of stairs would do to him. If Hillary decides to run in 2016, it's all over for anyone, they might as well concede before the primaries!

(904 posts)a grueling nomination process let alone a presidential campaign. I'm not making fun of his weight, just stating the obvious. Being so overweight is very unhealthy and he has many potential risks such as heart disease, diabetes, breathing problems, etc. Not to mention the stress of presidential politics, it can take a toll on even a healthy person. Christie would need to get healthy before he could even consider a presidential run.

Side note/question...is it the overall consensus that VP Biden isn't going to run himself, or do y'all think if Sec Clinton wants to run, it's hers for the taking? Just curious to see where folks are in this whole thing. I love them both, just was wondering...DU is the best place see what ppl think.
Wishing you all a happy, healthy, & warm holiday season & a better year than the last for you & yours.
