"This was in no way a win for Trump"

"While the Supreme Court allowed Donald Trump back on the ballot on technical legal grounds, this was in no way a win for Trump. The Supreme Court had the opportunity in this case to exonerate Trump, and they chose not to do so. Every court–or decision-making body–that has substantively examined the issue has determined that January 6th was an insurrection and that Donald Trump incited it. That remains true today. The Supreme Court removed an enforcement mechanism, and in letting Trump back on the ballot, they failed to meet the moment. But it is now clear that Trump led the January 6th insurrection, and it will be up to the American people to ensure accountability.”

Trump tried to thwart the 2021 inauguration as did @ 150 Magats in Congress. So the solution offered above is since they did not respect the vote, just vote.
Had SCROTUS asked questions about the Insurrection that was just a few hundred feet from their noses, based on intellectual curiosity, to see if they were next after Pence...

Got year wrong. Oops.

Just that they can't unilaterally do that. Which is good because the GOP would have excluded a SHIT TON of people from the ballot if so.

That's pretty ridiculous. The court does not make those kinds of rulings. So commenting that they failed to is of no import.

Bookbinder knows better.

The three liberals on the court had the opportunity to say that Trump is an insurrectionist - and they chose not to do so. Should we read anything into that?

PROCEDURAL TECHNICALITIES in order to save his candidacy. This is something dems, pundits, journalists should be talking about extensively. Several lower courts and even Mitch McConnell have said he is responsible for inciting insurrection. Plenty of quotes and stories available to keep this outrageous TFG behavior and ongoing legal determinations alive.

This case may be over legally for the time being but it shouldn't be over politically by a long shot. This story is ongoing.

Nor would they be as the Supreme Court is not a trial court.
