'Right to birth control' bill stalls in Louisiana Legislature over anti-abortion concerns

Legislation enshrining a person’s right to use contraception into Louisiana law is in a holding pattern until a prominent anti-abortion group declares where it stands on the measure.

Rep. Delisha Boyd, D-New Orleans, voluntarily pushed consideration of her legislation, House Bill 395, until next week after lawmakers on the House Committee on Health and Welfare raised concerns Louisiana Right to Life, the state’s preeminent anti-abortion organization, might oppose the measure. The committee chose Wednesday to delay its vote on the legislation.

In an interview, Right to Life’s executive director, Benjamin Clapper, said his group is still mulling over the proposal and had not decided what position to take on it yet. Conservative legislators might fear getting crosswise with Clapper’s organization, which can mobilize blocks of voters to participate in elections.

Three other religious organizations – Louisiana Family Forum, Louisiana Catholic of Conference Bishops and the Louisiana Baptist Convention – oppose the legislation.

From the article

…Louisiana Right to Life…might oppose the measure…
…Conservative legislators might fear getting crosswise…

Might?

The article goes on to say the Louisiana Right to Life “can mobilize blocks of voters…”

What is wrong with this picture?
When did we become so fearful?
Might?
When did we allow a vocal minority to dictate to the rest of us?

A former President is hawking a Bible to pay for his attorneys?
Where are the pastors on the right?

How much longer can these sad people be convinced that debasing themselves is okay?

This is Crazy Town.

Seriously.

Buncha old white guys trying to make the rest of us feel guilty for having fun in the bedroom. Pffft

They’re just jealous, cranky, old fools. Poor babies all they know is the missionary position in the dark. Ugh

sit back while far right radical fundamentalists strip away all civil rights - even a woman's right to CONTRAceptives, which, as I've also said, is their ultimate goal.

Turn loose the assessors. “Fear getting crosswise?” Because your cowards? Because said fear would keep you from doing the right thing. If men could get pregnant abortion would be free, with three weeks payed leave tossed in. Plus a quick edit to whatever doctrine Churchs lie about to oppose abortion on nothing other then beliefs.
