Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump wants potential RNC donors to "trust" her because she's Donald Trump's daughter-in-law. I shit you not. NBC News senior Capitol Hill correspondent Garrett Haake just came out and asked Lara what she would say to "Republicans who are not comfortable with the idea of sort of the Trump family takeover of the Republican Party."
The RNC slimmed down its staff, firing 60 employees because they were broke. In addition, there's a litmus test for new employees, asking them if the 2020 election was stolen. Thus, there is no Republican Party anymoreit's the Trump Party. "I hope you won't be offended by the premise of this question, but the position of RNC co-chair is not one that traditionally gets this kind of attention," Haake said to Lara.
"A lot of it is because of who you are as Donald Trump's daughter-in-law. You have Donald Trump's last name," he continued. "What do you say to Republican voters? And there are millions of them, people who voted for Nikki Haley, Republicans who are not comfortable with the idea of sort of the Trump family takeover of the Republican Party."
Lara Trump tried to claim that she's had "so much experience" even though that's not true. "If you look at the fact that I am one of very few people who can say that I have been part of now three presidential campaigns," Lara said, "the media exposure and experience that we in the Trump family have had over the past eight years rivals most people who make their career in politics, and I can guarantee you, none of us ever imagined we would find ourselves in this position. Can they trust the RNC" she continued. Can they donate to this entity? Trust me, I am the daughter-in-law of Donald Trump."

(25,252 posts)When will he throw Lara under the bus?
What will he blame her for that he's self-inflicted?

(16,786 posts)As Lara Trump clearly said, "the main objective is to get Donald Trump re-elected". Which is code for paying ALL of his legal bills, etc. Nothing for down ballot candidates in the states, setting up campaign offices, paying staff, GOTV efforts, paying for rally events, etc. Even the big party this summer is going to be done on a strict budget I suppose.
We all know TSF CANNOT stand being out raised, out maneuvered, and out smarted. We see how he reacts when all that happens.

That is downright freakish looking.

(86,646 posts)Magat princesses have them. They remind me of two things.
They remind me of a NatGeo special I saw when I was pretty young, about a tribe of people somewhere distant, whose women stretched their lips out to grotesque, to me, proportions so that they could literally place small plates in them. I was stunned and amazed.
They also bring to mind a day, years ago, when one of my sisters and I rented housing together. We did all the sister things including "fashion consultant" duties. We wear a little different shades in cosmetics so we were able to make use of items that came in promo gift packs if they weren't personally right by trading.
I had one such gift package that included lipstick that was decidedly NOT my shade so I offered it to her. She thanked me and went off to her room to try it on. When she returned, all I could do was hold my laughter long enough to tell here that it made her look like Daisy Duck before I fell on my bed laughing hysterically for quite some time. She looked at herself again and saw it too which made her laugh just as hard. I never saw that tube of lipstick again.
They now have the complete set, lips, gums, now if they'll just use them to STFU.

(47,496 posts)and being both fascinated and disturbed by those lips. I tried to imagine how they could eat or kiss. Now I'm picture Lara's lips getting in the way when she tries to use a fork or spoon. I wonder if she ever accidentally bites her lips. Can you imagine KISSING such lips?
I found some photos online of her when she was younger and she looked kind of pretty with a normal mouth. Now those lips have to be at least three times bigger. Then the rest of her face looks like molded plastic and nothing moves. Hey, if you have the money and you can safely improve your appearance, then go for it, but this is not an improvement, more like a something out of a horror film.
How fun to have a sister to play "fashion consultant" with. At least with a sister, you are bound to get honest advice.

(86,646 posts)Lara's lips, yikes. Remember what Madonna looked like after recent redo? I can't imagine.
My sister had much better fashion sense than I and it was good to have someone honest to tell me when I "shouldn't leave the house looking like that." Especially in SoCal.
We still have fits of laughter about some of those events. We would get into laughing fits, once in a while, that left us aching and teary eyed, happened a couple times in traffic, had to pull over to laugh.

(47,496 posts)My daughter and I have been like that, though now she's 3000 miles away so it doesn't happen too often anymore.
I've seen so many disastrous celebrity facelifts and sometimes it feels like they are addicted to the procedures. Some are barely recognizable. What really disturbs me is when someone who is young and attractive gets obvious plastic surgery. Then there are people like Jane Fonda who looks great, not to mention she still looks like herself.
You're right about Madonna. That is really creepy looking. Some of these doctors should lose their license.

(81,515 posts)Donald Trump relies on a simple phrase: Believe me
By Matt Viser
Globe Staff, May 24, 2016, 7:34 p.m.
WASHINGTON Much of Donald Trumps campaign can be boiled down to a basic phrase: Believe me.
Its the not-so-subliminal message of the race tucked into his speeches, uttered during debates, and tossed out at his rallies. To voters who are puzzled by his contradictory statements and well-documented predilection for exaggeration, he has the ready response: Believe me.
He utters the phrase whether hes talking about military officers executing his orders (Theyre not going to refuse me. Believe me), destroying the Islamic State (We will. Believe me), or a lawsuit against Trump University (Believe me, Ill win that case.)
During a speech in March, he said he had studied the Iran nuclear deal in great detail I would say, actually, greater by far than anybody else. He added: Believe me. Oh, believe me. And its a bad deal.
Trump so far has been impervious to fact-checkers who say that he cannot be believed. He was awarded PolitiFacts 2015 Lie of the Year, with the nonpartisan group deeming nearly 80 percent of the claims it examined as false.
...
PatSeg
(47,496 posts)because whenever someone says "Believe me", I naturally assume they must be lying. Same with, "It is the truth, I swear to God".
So that tells us what kind of people follow someone like Trump - "Believe me!" "Okay."

(14,764 posts)You can't give money to the trump campaign, his pacs, or the rnc. That money will almost entirely go to legal fees or some other grift (they have other ways to siphon off money like melanias expenses).
The state rnc offices are a shambles, and likely have to send money back to the national rnc at this point instead of the other way around.
So where do they give? Directly to some local candidate?
Helluva way to fund a 50 state effort.
