have maimed or killed-business is worshiped like a god; Boeing killed over 400 people with their 737 that their engineer told them it was not safe to fly-but you know the big-wigs paid no attention to him, in fact took him off the project but you never hear about that do you? Business manipulates and there is no control over it. The man who was a whistle blower on Boeings recently "committed suicide" and he had told a friend that if he ended up dead it wasn't suicide. When did business become a god where they could kill and maim people and not be held accountable? Oh, I forgot business is a god.

(57,489 posts)Good luck tracking down that "Boeing engineer who was taken off the project by the big-wigs." He's on a par with that big tough general who never cries, but this time he did, when he burst into tears upon having to tell Trump, "Sir, we have no ammunition. Obama sold it all to China."

I think Boeing needs to some steering correction, but people are, IMHO, WAY overreacting to the Boeing situation. Airline accidents are big news and scary, but remain an extremely small risk. Commercial airline safety remains near record highs. I think lots of folks let the emotion of thing outweigh the actual data. Ya wanna save lives? Auto accidents kill about 43,000 people a year. Airliners are vastly safer than driving, despite the fact that airline incidents gets lots of press and trigger a lot of fears.

(5,504 posts)Theyre willing to risk fatal accents every so often with reduced maintenance because it helps their bottom line.
Lets say you have a fatal planet crash every 5 years, and pay out $20 million because of it. However, maintenance over those 5 years would cost an extra $100 million. Thats a no brainer for sociopathic executives.

(6,905 posts)About 43,000 deaths per year in USA and I'll bet a lot of those deaths could have been prevented with more and better maintained roads and bridges. I think most of those roads and bridges along with traffic rules and enforcement are not responsibilities of auto manufacturers.
I've actually never thought of businesses being worshiped like gods, more like despised like satan.
