How Much is Your Burger?

Last edited Sun Mar 31, 2024, 04:45 PM - Edit history (1)

Just curious. I used to get my McD's burgers at 2 for $3. No more... I miss those days. They are still cheaper than Burger King, which I prefer, but is farther. And KFC is ridiculous, but I pay it because their chicken tastes wonderful. They had good wings, too, but KFC is quick to discontinue things that don't sell. They had Corn on the Cob once...

At any rate...

My husband got a burger with cheese and curly fries. I got a butter bun burger and an egg roll. It was $31 dollars. I was shocked it was so expensive. That said they did offer a $3.99 burger with the basic stuff. After eating part of this burger I remembered why I rarely go to fast food chains!

a dab each of ketchup and mustard, with a single pickle slice in a plain bun? Those were 35¢ each when I started eating "burgers;" maybe $1.99 nowadays.

Or is a "burger" a couple of quarter lb. beef patties, with cheese, lettuce, pickle, tomato, onion, placed in a 3-tier bun seasoned with sesame seeds? $1.99 in the wayback times; easily $8.00 now.

Add the "meal" option with beverage and fries, and "go large", and you can easily demolish the better portion of a $20 bill. For one person.

I like the intent of your survey, but it is is kind of a "how high it 'up'" type of question.

Some people prefer the premium burgers. Some of us go for quantity over quality.

I have to admit that paying $10-12 for a 3/4 lb burger is reasonable, given how much a quarter pounder costs.

I will add a bar.

a bit, as well as Taco Bell stuff, but I slammed the doors shut on this expensive 'fast food' that seems to have no end in sight, for the constant onslaught of price increases.

That's okay w/ me/us, I've been fixing more meals at home, fixing our own footlongs, and other 'long' sandwiches, etc. And just getting tired of 'hamburgers', although once in a great while, two whoppers (one for each of us), when we used to get six or so sandwiches (keep the others on hand for later meals), but no longer.

Once you get into the routine, it's not so hard.

Lee's once in a while (six months or so), but the livers and gizzards that I get, are so greasy, and being organ meats, aren't so good for you.

Arby's I do like, and I haven't been able to totally recreate their sliced beef, which I love, so I do tend to frequent Arby's more.

Substitutes: Crock pot meals, w/ either dried beans of some type, a little meat, or just plain veggies (soups). Cold meals include cottage cheese, which is pretty good. A 1/2 of one of these large containers of cottage cheese makes two meals for me.

I think what troubles me is that even though McD's is horrible, fattening food, it was also something that people could afford when they needed to feed a family quickly and cheaply.

McD's also responded to complaints be providing options like apples and milk to their happy meals.

The whole thing troubles me.

What we need is well-paying jobs in other industries that don't have such a drastic impact on food prices.

A McDonald’s quarter pounder with the basic toppings is $4.99. I think it’s around $7.99 for a meal that includes fries and a soda. I prefer Chick-fil-A though. Can get a chicken sandwich meal for around the same price.

I’m a big fan of Five Guys but have to say the prices are outrageous. Chipotle is expensive but probably a better value than places like McDonald’s.

If we both get a drink, it's around $20 for the two of us.

A little burger is plenty!!! I don't know about all Five Guy locations but the one near us is very generous with the fries. I could not eat a regular burger and a regular fries there.

Mixed with Lipton's onion soup mix and Worcestershire sauce, a bit of pepper and garlic added in. My grandmother made burgers that way, and sometimes I whip up a batch, if I'm tired of ordinary burgers.

The only time I ever ate at Applebee's, the burger was the only menu item that looked edible. Soon as I bit into it, I was like--that's a Nan burger, but with chintzier ingredients.

There's a selection of several different meats but I usually purchase the ground beef. I can make 4 patties from the ground beef packs which is plenty for the 2 of us at home.

I don't eat at fast food joints as it's impossible to accommodate my dietary restrictions.

My usual average price for a burger at home is $5. I also slice tomatoes and use the sliced tomatoes as the "bun".

If I want chicken, I usually make Chicken Catoirre with diced sauted green bell peppers, sliced mushrooms and crushed tomato sauce, plus seasoning. Sometimes I might add gluten free rotini pasta to the Catoirre but that doesn't happen very often.

The last time I ate at a regular restaurant I got food poisoning, this happened back in early February.

I'd prefer just to eat at home.
