The first, most basic principle of international humanitarian law is that civilians cannot be targets of a military attack. Militaries must have procedures in place to distinguish between civilians and legitimate military targets.

(10,060 posts)regarding Israel and law and aid etc. It is being shown on BBC, CBC, Al Jazeera but not on CNN or MSNBC, instead they chose to cover victim impact statements of the trial of the two parents that were found guilty of manslaughter, when their son used their gun to shoot fellow students. While it is of public interest, certainly their statements can be shown in snippets on the hourly shows, it is of vital interest to the world, what is going on in Israel.

(102,317 posts)war (as I have repeatedly over the past six months), it is met with rabid denunciation that "HAMAS does not abide by any conventions nor attempts to protect civilians). I don't disagree with respect to the latter, but that is NOT the point.
