(81,441 posts)Hell use their donations to pay his bills. I dont know how much theyll keep coughing up to keep his bills paid - assuming they even realize thats where their campaign donations are going.

(19,204 posts)on his legal and personal expenses, that's money he won't be spending on his presidential campaign.
It's a win-win in my opinion.

(19,204 posts)of the TNC's bankroll is being skimmed off by Lara Trump into the Trump personal bank accounts?
There wasn't much oversight on donations before she took over, and I'd hazard a guess there is none now.

(801 posts)Let's start at a cool $1,000,000 per post. And double it for each subsequent post. After only a couple of posts, this starts to get pretty pricey !!!! $32M after 6, $64, $128, etc.

(32,726 posts)... then I'm down with your plan.
If Chump doesn't go to prison it won't bother me too much. Just convict him of his most serious crimes, and fine him into poverty. If Chump gets house arrest, no TV or internet, no news, no social media, and he stays the fuck out of politics forever - then I'm good.

Should NOT be held in contempt??
If he violated
he SHOULD be held in contempt, right?
StarryNite
(9,459 posts)I think it means the defense will be asked to explain why they think he shouldn't be held in contempt.

(16,497 posts)I think it's legalese for "We think the defendant should be held in contempt, unless the Defense can show cause why he shouldn't."

(3,836 posts)as punishment? It would be much better than a "fine".
Often defendants watch their own trials via Zoom where the Courts can control them and even mute them when necessary. If there is going to be drama anyway, why not make it count as proof of truth and sanity from "The other side"? (which would be very good thing)
As long as defendant trump can see and hear what's going on.. what's the problem? I guess his capitulating lawyers could use 'removing him and his cancerous voice' as another (bogus) strike against 'Freedom of Speech'
But the disgraced ex-president needs to be punished in a way the whole world can see - punished with anything that will push back against Maga's urgent normalization of his pathetic, infectious and flourishing mental illness.

(16,497 posts)I don't know what's defined as "high speed," but there's definitely wi-fi, and I'm pretty sure you're right about the lack of security.

he showed up late for his trial today. He left his building @ 8:45 for a 9 am court date.

I do not understand why DA would state this. I would think NOT should not be in the sentence. Can someone explain?
RockRaven
(14,990 posts)The prosecution is asking the judge to order the defense to explain themselves (and unless the defense convinces the judge otherwise, find him in contempt). The "not" is what the defense is being ordered to do -- make a counterargument to the prosecution's argument that the behavior is contempt-worthy.
