(54,087 posts)Even if it's 51%-49% (or 51%-47%!) something like this, I'm curious about where DUers come down. There are many DUers who were damned critical of the president and would've seen it as more lesser of two evils. I'd just wanted to take a stab at seeing if I can gauge how many were there.

(20,600 posts)Obama has been a disappointment. I'm hoping he will do ok in the second term and not start caving again to the GOP, and hold the fort until the Democrats can get a true progressive into the presidency. But maybe he will surprise me and come out in his new term as a fire breathing liberal. Somehow I doubt it though.

(8,244 posts)Obama did some things I liked. Like when he said he thinks gay people should be able to get married. Or access to birth control on health plans. But mostly he is just a lesser of two evils for me. Cheers.

(11,607 posts)I never liked Romney, but somehow beating him was less of a motivation for me than how upset I would have been if Obama lost. I feel like he was a good president in his first term, but I still believe he has the potential to be a great one. It would have broken my heart if he didn't get that chance.
I've never had to hold my nose to vote for anyone so far (this was only my third presidential election as an eligible voter), but in 2004, I was voting mostly against Bush (although I didn't dislike Kerry, and I like him a lot more now than I did then). But In 2008 and 2012 I got to vote for a candidate I really believed in. I felt sad on Election Day that it may be a while before I get to vote for a candidate I like this much again.
