(68,768 posts)3. my nephew lived in Alabama...the old accents are disappearing what with TV, movies and
computers. An accent would have made Alabamians think sure that is what a Californian thinks. When I lived in Georgia, people used to say 'well at least we are not Alabama. Now Georgia in 50 in health care and a host of other things.

do you still hear Texan or NY/NJ accents among the younger crowd in those places?

(68,768 posts)7. I don't hear accents from my young relatives who live in Georgia, Long Island, Connecticut, Alabama and the Bronx.
When I was a kid, rural Connecticut had strong accents some were fishermen too. Other places did too. I don't hear it so much of late.
