It is tragic, contributor Charles Payne said, appearing on Your World with host Neil Cavuto. I dont think something like this will happen again. Dont think that the people in Bangladesh who perished didnt want or need those jobs, as well.
In the wake of the deadly blaze, one of three recent factory fires in Bangladesh, authorities cited lax safety conditions, non-working fire extinguishers and a distinct lack of emergency exits, which could have saved dozens of lives. Workers also claimed that when fire alarms began to sound in the factory, managers for the factorys owner, Tazreen Fashions Ltd., told everyone there was no emergency and that the employees should get back to work.

(269,201 posts)It happens every fugging few months in Bangladesh because having proper fire escapes would allow workers to steal a few goods and those goods are way more important than the lives of the citizens of Bangladesh. Fuck Neil Cavuto.

(9,933 posts)But it has happened several times over the past few years killing over 700 workers. That is what industry self regulation gets. That is why government needs to set regulations that companies have to adhere to. Why does the US allow products to be sold here that are manufactured in nations that don't abide by our own countries safety regulations? We need global labor unions to protect workers from this kind of tragedy. If corporations can organize globally why not workers?

(32,095 posts)Needless to say, I live in a so-called "Right to Work" state. It's the same crap these assholes spew whenever workers here complain about their employers' abuses: "Shut up and be glad you have a job. There are thousand of other people who would be happy to fill your shoes."
