You can control those below you because you know about their crimes and they're terrified of being found out or crossing you because to put it bluntly ........ YOU'VE GOT SOMETHING ON THEM.

That makes for airtight loyalty. Partners in crime, but outside marriage. And I'd bet many spouses know but just keep very quiet.
