I went back and looked back at my Facebook feed

for the past three months. Here's something I noticed:

The same people who frequently re-post nonsense they found on Facebook, share stupid photos of stuff and cute sayings that mean nothing, and copy and paste every moronic thing on Facebook that tells them they should copy and paste it are the same people who voted for Romney and posted endless regurgitated Fox News nonsense during the campaign about Obama. Almost 100% correlation. Over time, I've friended a lot of old high school classmates and miscellaneous folks. Too many of them are the ones I'm describing earlier in this paragraph.

I unfriended a bunch of folks today. But it's very sad to see so many people who have no ability to sort out nonsense from the data they are fed. This is what makes it so difficult to GOTV during elections. This is why Romney could get 47% of the vote, and it is why the Republicans still have a majority in the House. We're going to have to redouble our efforts to get people who actually think to the polls in 2014. If we don't, the blank-minded Facebookers will win.

The greatest gift I ever got my grandmother was a device that allowed her to easily conference-call her sisters.

sisters all lived in the apartment building their father owned after their marriages, until they had saved enough for a house. They each had their own 'ring-ring' on the telephone, but they all listened in to each other.

Then they all moved to the same neighborhood.

write original wall-posts? It appears to me that, even if they agree with you, there's an awful horrible LOT of people out there who are either without thoughts or skills to express them - or - they either can't express them for other more situational reasons, or they could express their own thoughts but just don't want anyone else to know what they are, so it's kind of odd that they are on facebook.

Maybe I'm wrong; maybe being on DU for so long has created this set of persons with skills that are not normative, so expectations about others, say on FB, are really unrealistic?

5. Yes, I did notice that. There's way too much "sharing"

of stuff on Facebook. I posted a great photo of my Mom and Dad on their wedding day, way back in 1943. My Dad was in his USAAF officer's uniform, and it was Veterans' Day. My non-posting relatives all just shared it with no comment, rather than adding a nice comment to my post of it. That meant that my parents, who don't spend much time on the computer, couldn't see all the nice comments about their old photo, since they were scattered across multiple postings.

it's my experience that if you "share" something that someone else posted, the original post, along with commentary, is also included.
