The deficit reduction crowd are Crackpots

They are not serious people. They are crackpots. Cranks.

Their arguments are based on fantasies and lies.

And at least half the Democratic Party is on-board the loony train.

Disgusting.

It like the Iraq War "debate," fiscal style.

We don't want a smoking gun that comes in the form of higher interest rates.

We must, must, must hurt ordinary people and retard GDP growth and keep unemployment higher than it would be otherwise because this deficit causes higher interest rates.

Look. See? Okay... well it doesn't cause high interest rates, but it is bound to do so eventually, right? So why take a chance?

To all the deficit zombies out there... We are running a large deficit. Interest rates are the lowest they have ever been. Interest rates are not about the fucking deficit, they are a prediction of inflation, and inflation is connected to growth.

If you think interest rates are primarily about the federal deficit, rather than being a broader prediction of inflation and relative currency valuations, then you have been proven wrong... like Flat Earth Society WRONG. Your predictive model was delusional.

We can run a huge deficit quite comfortably as long as the economy sucks. Only the prospect of an improving economy will increase interest rates. And if the economy improves, most of us will view that as good news, not doomsday.

Low interest rates are not a fucking gold star for penmanship. They are a prediction that the economy will continue to suck.

Yes, sabotaging the economy will keep interest rates low. That is true. So what is your fucking point?

Smirky was starting his TWO wars of choice (one of which is still dragging on) and when he created a gigantic new department in the federal government-- Homeland Security?

good to see someone here honest enough to admit:

And at least half the Democratic Party is on-board the loony train.

well, actually, no. that would be taking their arguments at face value, a rookie mistake in politics.

in truth, they aren't really genuinely concerned about possible future inflation, that's just the most convenient, salable argument they have. what they're really concerned about is future high taxes on the rich and figure the best way to prevent that is to keep government spending as low as possible.

the fact that real people suffer and die as a result of this is well beyond their caring.
