Ga. teacher quits after Taser-sex organ arrest

ATHENS, Ga. -- A middle school teacher has resigned following his arrest outside of a downtown Athens bar where police said he held a Taser as if it were his penis, discharging the device at passersby.

Meredith Grayson Watson, 44, of Athens, was arrested Nov. 19 outside the Roadhouse on North Lumpkin Street and charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Watson, who was a technology teacher at Newton County’s Indian Creek Middle School in Covington, resigned soon after he was arrested, said Sherri Davis-Viniard, director of public relations for the Newton County school system.

“He is no longer with us,” she said Tuesday. “After the incident, he submitted his resignation.”
