House Dems Reflect The Diversity of America -- House GOP Committee Chairs Will All Be White Men

tweeted by, Nancy Pelosi ?@NancyPelosi

House Dems reflect the diversity of America! Most diverse caucus in history & our committee leaders will reflect that. http://huff.to/10S87PC

from HuffPo:

House GOP Committee Chairs Will All Be White Men In Next Congress

WASHINGTON -- House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) announced who will chair all of the major House committees in the next Congress. And it turns out they all have something in common besides party affiliation: they're all white men.

There isn't a single woman or minority included in the mix of 19 House committee chairs announced Tuesday -- a stark reality for a party desperate to appeal to women and minorities after both groups overwhelmingly rejected Republicans just weeks ago in the presidential election. The one female committee chair that House Republicans currently have, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), is stepping down because her term is up. While there are still two lower-tier House committees awaiting a chair assignment -- the Ethics Committee and House Administration -- neither committee has any women or minority members.

At least one Senate Democrat was quick to point out that something is missing from the Republican lineup.

"Disappointed to see House committee chairmanships in the 113th Congress will not include a single woman. -PM," tweeted Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), who included a link to Boehner's press release announcing the chair posts.

The GOP leadership's refusal to acknowledge that women are capable of chairing a House committee is telling. It's the Old White Boy's Club there.

We should be publicizing this widely and pointing out that discrepancy to women everywhere.

next to me in a huge Lexus SUV had a large bumper sticker on the back door saying "Women for Mitt!" Another WTF day in my life, I get a lot of those WTF's here in red/red/red territory of "The Stepford Wives," I guess anymore behind enemy lines.

Yes, "We should be publicizing this widely and pointing out that discrepancy to women everywhere."

The "Old White Boy's Club" has become sooo blatantly obvious anymore. I thought after the election the R's would try to mix it up some for some diversity, but apparently not.

them fade into the past in the 21st century. The republican party is obsolete and needs to be from the past.

. . . to empty out their divisive agenda's arsenal. They didn't learn a thing from the election (except that their bull didn't do the trick this time around). I expect, like you, that they'll just double-down and drive their party and political brand into obscurity.

5. That's not totally true...

From the article:

The aide noted, though, that GOP leaders just put four women in party leadership. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash) is the new House Republican Conference Chair, Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-Kansas) is conference vice chair, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) is conference secretary, and Rep.-elect Ann Wagner (R-Mo.) will represent freshman members in party leadership.

Okay, these are nothing more then glorified secretarial positions...

And this is interesting:

The one female committee chair that House Republicans currently have, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), is stepping down because her term is up. While there are still two lower-tier House committees awaiting a chair assignment -- the Ethics Committee and House Administration -- neither committee has any women or minority members.

And yet, Lying Ryan whose term is also up is getting to keep his chair assignment, because the leadership agreed to waive the term limit.

That's the way to go Misogynist Party, keep working on diversity!!!

10. If term limits can be waived, they effectively don't exist at all.

So the pubbie's feet should be held to the fire for using the excuse of term limits to remove some chairs but not others.

Being old and white myself, it still baffles me that they can be so totally tonedeaf and clueless. I only hope America can survive passed their last, desperate attempts to cling to control, ends up in fail, as they most assuredly will.
