(WTF?) Teacher Kendra Baker Writes on Chalkboard: “You Can’t be a Democrat and Go to Heaven”

Kendra Baker, a high school teacher at South Laurel High School in Laurel County, Kentucky, wrote a religious and political message across her blackboard: “You can’t be a Democrat & go to Heaven,” following the presidential election.

A student took a photograph of the blackboard message and turned it in to the Laurel County Board of Education and the Sentinel-Echo, which reported the story.

Superintendent Doug Bennett, at South Laurel High School, told the Sentinel-Echo: “She wrote it on her own, and she wanted to write it on the board. She realized it was inappropriate.”

Bennett said Baker was reprimanded following the incident and apologized to her students: “Our focus and mission is to do what’s best for students, and teachers are expected to exercise reasonable and prudent judgement."

This report is more detailed than some others:

During the classroom discussion, Baker made remarks in class against same-sex marriage, Gilbert said.

Chelsea Gilbert, an admirer of Obama, told Baker she was offending people, Mary Gilbert said.
...
She said Baker responded by telling Chelsea she would someday have to take her parents to the emergency room and watch them die because of the president's health care reform law, commonly called Obamacare.

The exchange upset Chelsea, who came home crying, Gilbert said.
...
The following Tuesday, Nov. 13, is when Baker wrote the line about Democrats on her board.

Baker said she had heard the line from a student, and that it was one of her new favorite quotes, Gilbert said.

Good, there isn't time to reform the broken system, not in this particular case.
