Can I get a ROLL TIDE!

Bama's back in the National Championship game for the third time in four years. Held off UGA even thought Bama messed up a couple of times. Probably the greatest SEC Championship ever.

BAMA - 32
UGA - 28

AJ McCarron - 13/21 - 162 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT
Eddie Lacy - 20 carries - 181 yds, 2 TD
TJ Yeldon - 25 carries - 153 yds, 1 TD
Amari Cooper - 7 catches - 127 yds, 1 TD

An SEC Championship record 350 yds rushing by Bama. Previous record of 300 yds was held by Bama.

Bad ass game. Bama could have won by more if it weren't for mistakes but they won and that is all that matters. Georgia should get to play in a BCS game. I get that UF is 11-1 and #3 now but NCG shouldn't count as one of the SEC's BCS bowls when Georgia is as good as they are and the conference is as strong as it is...

Either way, ROLL TIDE ROLL!

Mental mistakes at the very end (last 15 seconds) probably cost Georgia the game.

That said, Eddie Lacy was ridiculous. He sliced through Georgia's defense like butter. He ran right over NFL caliber linebackers. It was a remarkable performance.

Still, if Murray spikes the ball when they get down to the 11, and they regroup for two more plays, y'all would likely be singing a different song.

The shock is that 'Bama ultimately relied on two very costly mental errors on the part of a Georgia offense despite 350 rushing yards.

I have no Dawg in this fight, so to speak. Thought it was a great game, and didn't care who won, really.

It happens every year that they get obvious preferential treatment. We saw that again after Texas A&M went into Tuscaloosa and straight up beat them, and they only dropped 3 spots in the polls. Any other team in that situation, and they drop a minimum of 5. Just look at the computer rankings, they aren't top 2 in a single one.

For the record, I'm a neutral observer. My team's lucky when it can make a bowl game, which they are currently banned from.

First, Georgia did not "get away with a lot of dirty plays." I was at the game, and can tell you firsthand that you're full of it there. Georgia’s plays were flagged and Bama’s weren’t – 8 penalties to 2. Second, the hit on Murray wasn't legal - the Alabama player targeted him high and aimed his helmet straight at Murray's. You can see him jerk his helmet up at the last second to make sure it was helmet to helmet:

This is the epitome of being a sore winner. What you can’t dispute is that 1) it was dirty and illegal and 2) it doesn’t change a dang thing. Stop trying to justify that dirty play by drawing false equivalencies and go try to represent the SEC with a modicum of class against the Irish.

I have a pic of it if I can get it on here I will. Each team played with extreme emotion and that is why the SEC is "grown man football". THey teach you from peewee football on, if the ball is in play keep your head on a swivel. Either way Dial clearly led with shoulder, even Murray said it was not a hit to the head. But it wouldnt have changed the outcome had it been called... I have the screen shot of Murray's eyes right when he see's Dial.

First of all, Dial absolutely targeted Murray's head, and when you look at the moving .gif, Murray's head snaps back first and his body follows. It was a dirty shot, and denying it makes you look like a complete fool. Second, it doesn't matter one fucking bit whether it affected the outcome, it's a play that should have been penalized. You sound exactly like Auburn fans that defended Nick Fairley a couple of years back. Third, I didn't say that Georgia had no dirty plays. I said we didn't have "lots" of them, and we sure as hell didn't get away with lots of them.

By the way, there were calls that affected the outcome of the game. Best example was a pass interference call on a 3rd down stop in the red zone where all of America except one ref could tell that the ball was uncatchable. That gave Alabama a TD instead of a field goal. Another example was the roughing the passer call on a 3rd down stop in the red zone that gave Alabama a TD instead of a field goal. An even playing field wouldn't have necessarily given us a win, but it sure would have been better than what we got.

He hits with his shoulder first, it hits his helmet next. Even Murray said it wasn't helmet to helmet. He said he got the wind knocked out of him. They should have called unnecessary roughness perhaps, but it was not initially helmet to helmet. And Murray was a defender at that point. He was not defenseless. You get over yourself. The play was in front of him. He threw an int He was a defender at that point. Please if he doesn't want to get hit, fall down. Sore Loser.

The night before the game we were at the bars and there were a lot of GA fans out there. Had a blast. Auburn just wants to do something to look relevant...which will not happen for a while.

It was the best game of the season by far.

God forbid better teams than Bama...like Oregon...should make it in...when the playoffs finally come, Bama will never win another nc because they won't be able to have it handed to them.

Oregon is better? Really? They look prettier and may be more fun to watch for those who do not enjoy real football. Any team with a decent defense can stop Oregon. I and the rest of the BamaNation/SEC can't wait for the playoffs. Can't wait to hear the whining about how 3 of the 4 teams are from the SEC. No championship has been handed to us. We were #1 for most of the season and yes we lost one game to the guy who will win the Heisman. Ore. and KSU couldn't handle the spotlight or pressure that being #1 or #2 brings. Handed to us, pfft. Alabama has more bowl appearances and bowl wins than any team in the NCAA, we have won the most NC's, the most SEC Championships. Hell, Alabama QB's won the first three Super Bowls. Our teams are bigger, better and more disciplined than any other conference. We send more to the pro's, have more championships and have the best looking women.

Also the "illiterates from Bama" is an old tired cliche. What next? Asian people are good at math or women can't drive. Please come up with a new derisive jab for the south.

"could beat ND" isn't that high a bar. Hell, Pitt almost hit it.

So Oregon could beat ND. So could Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. Kansas State? Maybe, if they didn't turn into the Mildcats like they did against Baylor.

Just like I despise the entitelment and hypocracy of the republican party I despise the entitlement and hypocracy of the SEC. No way in FUCKING HELL does Georgia deserve to be ranked in front of Oregon going into the game.

Pure fucking ignorant fucking BIAS.

That being said, Bama deserves to be a notch above Oregon, so my disdain is not focused on Bama, but on the system that makes the winner of the SEC a step above a one loss Pac12 team, even though on conference schedules an extra gimmie game each year.

SO FUCK THE SEC! and go Irish. (man that hurts)

Georgia did deserve to be ranked in front of Oregon. Who did Oregon beat that was better than Florida? There's no way that Oregon stays on the field with Alabama like Georgia did. The first time Oregon ran into something resembling a defense, they wet the bed. Stanford has what would be a mid-level SEC defense. By the way, for you non-Stanford PAC-12 fans, a "defense" is the part of the team that is supposed to prevent scores by the opponent's offense, instead of waving at various backs or receivers as they go by.

Ranking SEC teams higher isn't "bias" or "entitlement" if it's earned. Earned by the SEC cleaning the rest of the country's clock on a very regular basis. The only team to beat an SEC team in the championship game is another SEC team. Oregon? No. Oklahoma? No. Ohio State? LOL.

Please. Oregon couldn't even make it to the conference championship game in a second-rate conference. The SEC is a level above. Best teams. Best players. Best coaches. Best stadiums. Best traditions. Most devoted fans. The rest of you need to learn your station, and stand up and salute your betters instead of crying "bias."

One system that I saw some one write about in a sports blog would have the 15th and 16th team get in via a 1 game playoff between the 15th-18th ranked teams.

I coasted through Auburn getting mostly As and some Bs.

Then I found myself completely lost in certain sophomore level classes. Ended up having to re-take the freshman level at the Big 10 school and found they were much more challenging than at Auburn. Even though I was purportedly taking the same classes for a second time, my grades were worse because they were that much more difficult.

It's only an anecdote. But that was my personal experience with SEC vs Big 10 schools.

87. Please, the SEC has some of the best public universities in the country.
Wed Dec 5, 2012, 12:16 PM
Dec 2012

Alabama has a top 30 Law School - above Pepperdine, Baylor, SMU, Temple, UConn, Pitt, etc..
Alabama has a top 30 Accounting program
UGA has a top 40 Law School
UF has a top 20 Accounting School
Vandy - Vandy is an ivy league school with a southern accent

Just because something is in or from the south and especially the southeast does not immediately make it worse, or dumber or bigoted. SEC Schools especially Alabama have some of the highest graduation rates for its athletes in the country. Also Alabama's center Barrett Jones won the Campbell award last night. The Campbell award is the Academic Heisman.

We place a premium on athletics, primarily football. We do it better than anyone else and like it or not we will for the foreseeable future. Alabama, aside from football, also has 6 Gymnastics National Championships, a Softball National Championship and a Women's Golf National Championship. Last year Alabama won National Championships in Football, Softball, Gymnastics and Women's Golf. How progressive right? We put enough emphasis on women's sports to win the NC in three different women's sports in one year.

I am obviously extremely biased toward Alabama, considering I am from there, live there and went to school at BAMA. This same thing can be said for UGA, UF, UT, et al. The perception that southern schools aren't as good as northern or western or coastal or New England schools is wrong. The SEC has many great institutions and have produced some notable people over the years.

Alabama:
Harper Lee - To Kill A Mockingbird
Jim Nabors
Sela Ward
Hugo Black - Supreme Court Justice
Morris Dees - Founder of the Southern Poverty Law Center
Don Siegelman
Mel Allen - Voice of the Yankees
Howell Raines - Pulitzer Prize Winner
Joe Scarborough -...ok so I'll give you this one, and..
Bernie Madoff - this one, did not graduate but attended.
Timothy Leary - Hell yeah
Jimmy Wales - Co-founder of Wikipedia
Abdurrahim El-Keib - taught here and is now the interim Prime Minister of Libya

I could go on and on for each school. So yeah, the SEC will probably never have an alum as President but to say they aren't quality schools is incorrect.

and I'm damn proud of it. I might have had to work more for it than some star athletes who have free ride scholarships, private tutors, free parking passes, and boosters shaking their hands and handing them $100 bills under the table... but everyone knows thats the way it is. And its certainly not exclusive to the SEC either.

The education that SEC players gets is great. Not all go pro, but if you can go pro you probably play in the SEC. Alabama alone has many scholar athletes. Yes some coast through one P.E. degrees or "General Studies" but the majority get a real education. Our QB from the 09 Championship team, Greg McElroy, was a Rhodes Scholar finalist. Our C, Barrett Jones, just won the Campbell Award which is the Academic Heisman. He has a 4.0 in Accounting and is getting his Masters.

Not sure where you went to school but the "education" we get at SEC schools is very very good.

I feel the same way about U. Of South Carolina. We are right up there with you. Back in the day, the Clemson/SCarolina game was played on Big Thursday when the state fair was set up. Some Lamecocks had barricaded themselves into a defensive position. Clemson students were advancing on them with loaded guns before it was broken up. Woulda shot them too.
There is nothing like a rivalry between 2 schools in the same state on the same level.

The Peach Bowl this year is better than a few of the BCS games. Yes the Peach Bowl. I can't stand all of these corporate sponsored bowls. I mean I know they all are but it kinda feel like NASCAR saying the Chik-fil-a bowl or the BBVA Compass Bowl or the Tax Slayer.com Bowl...or the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. The last one is just too damn long.

They say something like The Rose Bowl sponsored by ....... I think that's better. I also think the sponsors would get more out of it.
If people can actually hear Sugar Bowl or Cotton Bowl, etc., the good will that bowl has built up can help. They are fast losing the opportunity to keep the older names out front and meaningful

If we can keep our heads on, we can beat LSU. When Cam had his season, we played Auburn first and came close to beating them. If our starting QB hadn't broken his ribs during the game, we might have and stopped that train before it left the station. I don't know how he stayed in the game.

Tajh Boyd, Sammy Watkins and Hopkins are badass. Had they not slipped against FSU, we might not be going to Miami. I went to Atl. in 2008 when we open with Clemson. Great game, great fans. I was staying at the Omni and was at the hotel bar after the game and a Clemson fan bought me a drink, gave me $20 and asked if I wanted to come hang out with him and his wife. Great people. Not sure if they were looking to swing..... But either way awesome, right. Clemson has always been my favorite ACC school.
