I'm not asking you to distinguish whether you drink often or just on occasion but whether you ever drink or not at all.

(25,183 posts)Company Christmas dinner tonight, and yes, I'm going to let them buy me drinks. Too bad there won't be any beer other then the lame kind, I might go mixed drink tonight at cocktail hour, and settle for whatever jug wine they pour at dinner.

(3,414 posts)I'm having a nice glass of cabernet while dinner cooks. And I'll have another one with my dinner. If you want to drink alcohol, red in moderation is the way to go.

(11,477 posts)And need to cut down,....so I look at my wine cooler with lust....
I only need to lose ten pounds and eat less carbs and I can go back to glass a night.
Mine isn't bad and can be reversed with diet. I just use to eat a lot of sweets and wine and more than one glass to unwind.

(3,249 posts)I am type two and controlled with metformin and diet. I cut way down on sweets and other sugars, but I wasn't about to give up my wine.

I figured out awhile back that this isn't an audition it is the real thing so I celebrate life by only buying The Glenlivit and for 'stink-pretty' Chanel No. 5 - both make me happy beyond measure.
Enjoy!

(15,682 posts)I can't stand pot. Hate, hate, hate the smell - and (not that anyone believes me) smoking it triggers killer migraines for me. Sometimes even second hand can make me sick. But I think it should be legal - along with a few other drugs.
As for alcohol, a glass of wine can be nice and I do enjoy a good brandy eggnog in the winter.
I'm female.

(14,177 posts)I have never so much as taken a hit off of a joint. But, I got a contact migraine once when I was in a car where the rest of the passengers were smoking and the car was well very smokey. It was a long long time ago, but since then I have not been tempted to find out what would happen if I was to directly smoke a joint.

(11,065 posts)Never will. For me it's a self control thing I think. I hate even the idea of not having both feet planted firmly on the ground. And I've yet to taste any alcoholic drink that didn't taste like crap to me. All I can taste is alcohol and something odd that makes me think of something moldy and rotten. Ick. No thanks.

(52,257 posts)haven't knowingly consumed alcohol since.
i even get a migraine when i eat food that turns out to have been cooked with wine, so i even avoid that where possible. sadly, while many waiters do the right thing, far too often they don't know and prefer to lie or guess rather than just ask the chef.
what i really hate is the "all the alcohol is cooked off" crap. first, that's just plain wrong. MOST of the alcohol is cooked off, but hardly ALL of it. second, who said alcohol was my migraine trigger? in fact grapes and raisins are migraine triggers for me as well. probably the tannins or something else in the grape skin.

(161 posts)I usually only drink with my evening meal.
Most days, I don't drink at all.
When I do drink, I usually have but one drink.
Occasionally, I'll have two. But, it's becoming a rarity;
perhaps two or three times a month, if that.
I have a weakness for a good margarita on the rocks.
By about age 30 (I'm WAY past that now), I figured
out that I did not enjoy drinking to excess, but before
then I did so occasionally. In the last 20 years, I've
never had more than two drinks in any one day.
On Edit: There's nothing quite like having an immediate
family member drink their way to an early grave, to make
one examine their own alcohol consumption.

I'm allergic to white wines and champagne as well. Worst migraine of my entire life was after my cousin's wedding where I had like two sips of champagne and then could barely get out of bed for the next two days.
