Did anyone else see this Suzanne Venker person on The View just now?

She was peddling some claptrap book she's written about women need to pretend more to be a little helpless so we don't scare the menfolk. She pushes the idea that feminism did not free women and that women are waging a "war on men." I googled her and her aunt is Phyllis Schafly. Limbaugh apparently is a fan of hers.

Whoopi pointed out to her that women started raising their daughters to be independent after the 1950s women found themselves abandoned and having to learn about how to attend to the business end of the household. She tried to introduce the notion that not all women can count on a good partner in life. This woman just has no understanding of anything beyond some 1950s style of living in which the "little woman" is not an equal. She also didn't really address the need for second incomes in homes now. Just avoided that subject entirely.

I bring this to your attention because she will become the next generation's "Schafly," if given a pass. Rush's "feminazi" crap has become harsh and threatening and has been hammered on by men. What better way to slip the message in on women that with a bland looking female making the same arguments of "don't you worry your pretty little head, darlin' "?

Trying to make themselves look good by running down women. Typical bully attitude.

who's stuck in the 1950s cultural norms and who is trying to pass this off to women so they can keep their men now.

need to be subservient to men, I assumed it was actually some reichwing, woman-hating male in disguise.

and Laura Ingraham and Ann Coultergeist and all the rest of the right wing harpies who preach this nonsense should go home and stay home for their men folk... if they have them (LOL).

Unfortunately, we older women learned that you have to be able to take care of yourself because in the real world, as you so aptly pointed out, you cannot depend on a husband to do so. Also since Reagan, the economy practically demands 2 incomes.

and this woman is out of touch with the views of both men and women under age 50. She will be ignored as out of touch as she should be.

And thinks that is the norm. Surrounded by other women who live the same life. I have a half sister who is shocked when restaurants are empty when she takes us out to dinner. She has NO clue what people are going through and she does not care to explore why.

Just like her aunt, Schafly, she writes books and makes money on her own, just like any other self-respecting Feminist but she wants to preach to women on how they should not make money on their own and learn how to be clingy and needy so a man will take care of them.

that the kind of woman who buys this book, and the line of hooey Venker's pitching, are also big Ann Romney fans, and followers of relationship advice books, like "the Rules". Makes you tired, just wondering what the hell is wrong with them, are they self hating, or just super programmed from birth?
