And I say it in that order on purpose, Taylor said at a National Press Club luncheon at which he shared some thoughts on politics and played a few tunes. It was a tough time for me. I really suffered. It made me deeply ambivalent about my country that we would choose that even if we may not have actually chosen it that thats what represented us in the world.
He called Bushs push for war in Iraq unpardonable. I felt that it was inept, corrupt and opaque.
Taylor denounced the pollution of corporate money that made this the costliest election in American history, and said he agrees with something Obamas campaign manager, Jim Messina, told him: that its time for a constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Courts ruling in the Citizens United case, which lifted limits on corporate campaign spending.
He also denounced voter ID laws like those in Texas as a solution without a problem and called for turning Election Day into a national holiday to boost turnout.
We have a day off for the Fourth of July, for Independence Day. Patriots Day a state holiday in Massachusetts, where the North Carolina native now lives Washington and Lincolns birthday, Veterans Day. We have MLK day. Why cant we get a day off to go to the polls? he said.

I've been using that order for over five years, when it became obvious who was pulling the strings in that administration. It's gratifying to see someone whose name means something does, too.
The National Press Club lunches are NOT a little deal. I used to go them all the time when my dad worked at the National Press Building. The very top of the Washington press corps goes to those things, and they listen.

It really is excellent - we will watch it again tonight.

(15,445 posts)How is it that liberals and progressives, as a rule, make so much more beautiful music than conservatives and "retrogressives"?
And you're so right--these press whores do'nt deserve him. They wouldn't know genius if it bit them in the ass.

It's a beautiful video indeed - sorry I didn't watch it live yesterday
