More than a dozen Michigan nurses stood on the steps of the Michigan Capitol Monday morning, their mouths covered in red duct tape in protest of
right to work legislation.
Written on the duct tape: SNYDERS RTW.
"It's a symbol to show our voices as nurses are being silenced," said Katie Oppenheim, a registered nurse from Ann Arbor who works at the University of Michigan Health System.

The Michigan Nurses Association staged the mostly quiet protest on the steps today, raising concerns about patient safety if the legislation passes.
The legislation, which makes it illegal to require financial support of a union as a condition of employment, will weaken unions and thus the protections unions provide, the nurses said.
