...that eventually led to www.democraticunderground.com. I remember "meeting" WilliamPitt, Crewleader, and other like-minded people, in those early days after the Bush selection. If not for this place and conversations with many good people here, the landscape would have looked much darker.

Scalia says he is often challenged on that decision and usually tells people to 'get over it'!

I don't think so. He also has rewritten history claiming it was Gore V Bush rather Bush V Gore. He gets a bit testy when anyone asks him about that decision. I wonder why.

As much as I blame the SCOTUS, I feel the American people have to share the blame. This was an egregious violation of the Constitution and the nation didnt give a crap.

And they still dont give a crap. Roughly 140 million or approx 68% of eligible voters didnt vote for Pres Obama. And he is conservative. I have a hard time being optimistic.

There was no DU yet, and no one around this area of Florida understood what was happening. In fact there were cheers here.

I hated Katherine Harris with a purple passion, and likewise everyone connected with the mess.

I will never forget.

BTW...have you seen the picture of the new house Harris and her hubby are building. Will try to find it. It's obscene.

engineered by James Baker and Scalia. It was Scalia who issued a stay that stopped the Florida recount while his son worked for the law firm representing Bush. Thomas's wife was on the Bush transition team. They should have both been impeached.
