Social Security - An Analogy.....

As there seems to be a massive attempt to confuse issues and portray Social Security "Entitlements" as a massive contributor to the Debt Crisis, I suggest the following analogy:

Suppose you were the parents of children whose Grandparents generously decided to create a College Fund - a College Fund of which you had complete control. Every month the Grandparents made a tidy little deposit and the fund grew and grew.

Now, as time went on, you found that it became harder and harder to make ends meet. Soon you gave into temptation and started to raid the funds to pay bills. But you kept reporting the balance to the Grandparents with to-the-penny accuracy, telling yourself that you would put the money back just as soon as it was needed.

Well, life being what it is, you never did put the money back and, instead spent every penny. Presently, Johnny’s been accepted at the Columbia School of Journalism.

Strangely, you’re now telling Johnny that no one is “entitled” to a free ride through college.

have the money to put it back. They just have to cut back on their luxuries, like warmongering. they don't have the money for more shiney items, like their little toys.

Borrowing is always easier than paying back.
