Another point about Medicare. To me it is so unfair.

It's unfair that SOME people in this country, due to age or disability, are covered by a national health plan, while so many are not. If you're 65, you're covered; 64, you're screwn.

EVERY American, regardless of age, should be covered by a national health plan. More and more, employers are NOT offering group medical insurance to their employees. And that trend is only going to get worse.

So those people either (1) have no health care coverage, (2) can get on their spouse's or parent's insurance plan--if under age 26). That's if they're lucky enough to have a spouse/parent who has employer-provided health care coverage, (3) if they can afford it, can buy an individual insurance plan, with a great big deductible and likely a great big premium, and it's basically catastrophe coverage.

We need Medicare for all.

Exemptions for retiree-only plans:

Thanks to a little-noticed clause in a 1996 law, retiree-only health plans are exempt from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that went into effect last month.

Thanks, raccoon. Totally agree. K&R.
