First of all, we regret that we inherited two wars, Medicare drug program, and trillions in unpaid tax cuts - instead of a balanced budget, like your Party inherited in 2001. Also, we very much regret that we were left with an economy that sucked, mostly caused by your Party.
So, let's stop with the self-righteous bullshit. The problem we are facing with debt and deficits and spending is the result of incompetence and malfeasance by the Republican Party of this country.
So, do you want to discuss fixing it or do you want to continue tearing it down?

(23,252 posts)The more they tear down, the harder it is for us to build it back up. GOP is on a scorched-earth mission from the Koch brothers. They cannot impose their fascist tyranny if we are educated, fed, healthy, and prosperous. And ORGANIZED!

We need to talk to them too.

(125 posts)Although the republicans are more so to blame, there were also many democratics who went along with it. For a time, right after the prosperity of the Clinton years, there was a culture of wild spending up on the hill because everybody had gotten used to there being plenty of money for each person's pet project, and very few voices dissented.

The IWR vote was a sticking point during the primaries. Democrats were trying to run away from their vote (except Obama who had the luxury of not having been in the Senate at the time).
