Why the Checks/Balances Bi-partisan argument no longer works

I used to (somewhat) buy in or at least listen to that argument.
The one being that it might be better that when the Prez is of one party that, at least, the House or the Senate should be controlled by the other party.
The main argument being that that would guard against possible corruption and too much power being held by one group.

That argument no longer holds any water for me.
This modern day Republican party isn't about that.
They are so totally lock, stock, and barrel controlled and beholden to such a small group of very powerful people (e.g. the Koch brothers).
They aren't about governing.
They are only about the greed of this very small group of people and they don't care what happens to the rest.

Therefore, even though I inherently don't like the idea the one party rule. I am now 100% for it.
Dems may not be perfect. But, they are all we have to fight these people.
So, I hope (despite the horrific gerrymandering of 2010) that there is an all out assault waged in 2014 to find those 17 seats needed to turn the House around.
Because, until then, all we are going to hear is this same ole same ole from the same old white men.
