staunch liberal who helped to get the Civil Rights Act passed and broke from the left over this issue. How did we get o the point where this became such a divisive issue? Some of the most socially liberal people I know are also gun owners. There is something deeper going on in this country that is leading to such violence and it isn't just gun ownership.

get passage of many liberal issues and those are the facts. He later became an asshole and spokesperson for the NRA.

I just know that for years people have owned guns and did not commit these acts. There are deeper issues we need to look at.

Raygun was a Union "Boss". Much has changed with time. The rich get richer and their priorities change with the accumulation of wealth. As Costas pointed out, our culture is changing and extremes reign. I own a half dozen guns and rarely think about them beyond making sure they are put away safely.

You own guns and have no intention of using them to massacre people. I know many liberal people who own guns and would never think of using them to commit massacres. There is something more going on and I think it is hardcore ideology and extremism. I am not opposing reasonable gun control, I just think we need to look beyond that to what else is going on.

Harshness and and rudeness are now admired attributes. We have an entire political party that enjoys a 47% support for their bad behavior. It is no coincidence that so much of pop culture is now based in prison culture. It may be the fact that the US has such a large prison population.

I quit NRA when they sent preview ad about Dukakis and his "Up North nonsense". Civil War, anyone?
