Seems like most of the people who do this sort of shit have no pertinent history--or if they do, and wouldn't be able to pass a check, then it's just a matter of taking someone else's gun. It's really pretty hopeless.

All gun dealers are required by federal law to do background checks. Even if its a private sale, if it crosses state lines, a background check is required.

The only type of online sale would be a guy in one town putting up a craigslist ad and a guy in another town sees it and they meet up in person.
