Apart from gun control, can we spread the word that Guns don't make us safer?

if a gun makes you feel safer, that doesn't mean it makes you safer.

if your gun makes you safer, but it's stolen or grabbed by a child or someone else who uses it to harm --it hasn't made *things* safer.

the Bob Costas' mention of the gun culture is right and we should address it.

guns are so widespread in this society that they are being treated as the solution that they aren't.

many gun advocates have financial interests in scaring us into thinking that there are so many guns out there that even those of us who don't own guns, must do so in order to be safe, even though the chances of a personally owned gun being used to harm a loved one is higher than it being used to protect us from a crime.

spread the word: guns don't make you safer, they just make you feel safer, while often doing the opposite.

Are we to live in a safe rational world or are we to constantly be afraid the British are coming?
