I don't want to live in a country where

schools
grocery stores
malls
movie theaters
restaurants
stadiums

Have to be locked down to become safe places for people.

That is NOT the answer.

It is also not reasonable to expect that each person carry a gun for protection.

That is ludicrous!! I can't even imagine how that could be considered rational.

So, start from those two premises and come up with a reasonable rational solution... Our gov't officials are telling is now is not the time to talk about this. BULLSHIT! Now is the perfect time!

this dialogue should never have stopped. There are simple things that could be done to strengthen our mental health system or our gun laws with little effort and bipartisan support that even the NRA could get behind.

That said, we don't need crazy thoughts on the far extremes of either side. There is compromise to be had, everyone. Let's work it out.

welcome to the new normal.

but this fragmentation and destabilization is intentional.

the breakdown of the "commons" is instrumental in creating this nightmare world we live in.

nation endure? This is awful -- another sad, sad day for this country. I agree it is not reasonable to expect each person carry a gun. I consider myself a very reaonable and fair minded person. I don't own or use a gun but honestly, over the past 2 years there were times or incidents when if i were carrying a gun i would have used it. Not necessarily to kill someone but i would shoot them (in the leg, foot, or arm). And I just say this because each person carrying a gun IS NOT the answer.

Something has to be done. The current system is not working.
