They're actually the most commonly sold firearm out there, surpassing bolt-action, lever-action and pump-action guns now. The days of guns looking like Grandpa's ole .30-30 deer rifle in the closet have passed. And just because she's a kindergarten teacher doesn't preclude her from using firearms for hunting and target practice. A semi-auto AR-15 would actually be a good firearm for someone with less physical strength to use, since it recoils less and requires less manual operation to fire.

That, or she bought the guns as gifts for her son, and it only looks like they belonged to her because she filled out the paperwork when buying them.
