The answer to less guns is more guns... they never learn.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - An Oregon lawmaker contends the massacre that left more than two dozen people dead at a Connecticut elementary school is another "heartbreaking failure" of school personnel to ensure protection, and is a reminder that teachers should be allowed to carry guns in the classroom.
State Rep. Dennis Richardson, a Central Point Republican, wrote in an email to three southern Oregon school superintendents that gun bans on school property must be overturned, the Mail Tribune newspaper reported Saturday.
"If I had been a teacher or the principal at the Sandy Hook Elementary School and if the school district did not preclude me from having access to a firearm, either by concealed carry or locked in my desk, most of the murdered children would still be alive, and the gunman would still be dead, and not by s

I think "arming teachers" is stupid. Given that the one shooting we had with an armed teacher was much less bad than it probably would have been without him there, it's hard to call the people supporting this crazy.

(56,582 posts)But saying that teachers who are qualified and licensed to have guns should be able to have them at school. Again, I'm not particularly a fan, but given the one datum we have on it I also can't call it crazy.

(992 posts)Putting guns into a school will only lead to bad things. Almost all of the teachers will be poorly trained, thugs (aka: students) will know where a supply of guns is, and we would get a few incidents of teachers going postal.

(56,582 posts)I mean, as far as that one goes the ban is irrelevant. The school in Newtown was a gun-free zone, after all.
The first part is a good point, which is my worry about letting teachers bring guns to campus. But, then again, the one instance we know of turned out much better than it would have without the armed teacher.

(3,333 posts)Had this asshole been a teacher or the principal there and had he been allowed to have a gun, the death toll would probably e about double with half of the kids killed by this asshole before Lanza put a bullet in his stupid ass just before he killed himself.
End result, 40 babies dead plus 7 faculty members and people wondering why half the babies died at the hands of the fucking principal.
