Not used in the shooting. The shootings were accomplished by semi-automatic pistols. Shooting statistics show that compared to handgun use, rifles (of all types) are used very rarely in crimes.

I am surprised that so many people demand rifle bans when they cannot be easily carried concealed, used rarely in crimes compared to handguns, instead of handguns that can be easily concealed. A 9mm Glock with a 14 round magazine and 1 in the chamber carries as much as a standard AR-15 variant sporting rifle with the older 15 round magazines.

All deaths were by 223 rounds at close range, that is what that gun uses, so if not that one he had another one.
