I am no gun fan, have touched only one in my life and never plan to shoot one, and am ignorant about many of the issues for gun owners. But what this guy is saying makes some sense to me -- basically, that mandatory safety courses and licensing would help, much as it's required to pass driving tests before getting a driver's license:
http://terribleminds.com/ramble/2012/12/14/i-think-we-can-have-that-gun-conversation-now/

A hunter (and eater of what he has shot) since he was a kid, he also notes the fallacy of thinking that if there's a crime situation and a non-criminal has a gun there then all will be fine -- he points out that target practice isn't enough preparation for a high-stress occasion, and that trained policemen and soldiers still make mistakes in the heat of a situation. He further comments that while a hunting license sets specific limits for how many animals can be killed, there is currently no limit to ammo purchases or number of guns that can be owned/operated.

throughout the country as one way to keep this issue alive. Not everybody reads a newspaper or watches a decent news show on teevee, but they damn well drive at some point.

It says, among other things, "tell congress to close the gun show loophole" and "criminals and terrorists welcome" -- both anti-gun messages. Perhaps it's too subtle for many passers-by to get, especially at first glance, but there are some pretty smart folks in Boston who would see the absurdity immediately.

Across the street from the ballpark. Parking garage owner has been a gun control activist for years and changes the sign every now and again. The Mass. Turnpike runs right by it.

Seriously. If we think we can stop the gun violence, why don't we try to actually stop ALL violence? Why was the "gun" even needed?

We need to stop the rush to war... Obama is putting Missiles in Turkey.. and Russia is giving missiles to Syria... where do you think this is going to lead? TO WAR.. and it ain't (sic) pretty.

Our government lies to us daily. Pat Tillman, Yellow Cake, WMD's, 911, Osama Bin Laden Death, Unemployment numbers, Fiscal Numbers...

If you believe ANYTHING the Federal Government tells you.. you are backing up.

War is not Patriotic.. death is not pretty... when you are dead.. you are dead for a long time.

WAKE THE FUCK UP AMERICA.
