The 2nd Amendment Does NOT Equal Random Slaughter

http://www.commondreams.org/view/2012/12/15-1

Supporters of gun control legislation hold candles during a rally to pay respect for the shooting victims in front of the White House in Washington, capital of the United States, Dec. 14, 2012, following a deadly shooting spree in an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, which took place earlier in the day. The Second Amendment does NOT guarantee the right of any and all citizens to own any and all kinds of guns.

It DEMANDS, in the name of national security, that we regulate it.

NEVER let assertions of the so-called "sanctity" of the 2d Amendment bully you into thinking it guarantees unregulated weapon ownership.

It does NOT.

out. "a well regulated militia" isn't mentioned by the NRA is it?

You can't tell me that the President can't use his emergency powers to impose some sort of sanity into the saturation of firearms in the country. After all, he says he can murder anyone he puts on his terrorist list and travelers can expect all sorts of searches and seemingly random cancellations of the right to fly on the commercial flight for which they hold a ticket.

National security is at issue here.

"National security is at issue here"...that horse left the barn a long tim ago. Grover Norquist, the Koch brothers, and Sheldon Adelson are more of a threat to National security...maybe the President can order their arrest and indefinite detention...but no he can't.

However, the Supreme Court has now definitively held that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that weapon for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. Moreover, this right applies not just to the federal government, but to states and municipalities as well.

the type of guns that existed at the time the bill if rights was written. the founding fathers had no idea we would invent so many different ways to kill one another. no one NEEDS a semi automatic weapon. unless they are in a war zone.
