I cannot express the horror and sadness I feel. Also the anger about guns being all over the place!!!!

8. I have a 7 year old. I live in Connecticut.

Newtown is like six towns away from where I live. This cuts so close to home. I went to a church service last night in Southington and lots of people were just overwhelmed. Connecticut and Newtown will heal but it will take time. I just wish the media would back off of the state officials, the state police, the families involved and the town residents. The media is camped out in little Newtown and it is way too much.

The local media seems to be okay as they know CT well. But the sheer amount of media presence there is disturbing.

To me that's what I get from the NRA leaders and idiots who defend our country's extremely lax gun laws.

16. What kind of a MONSTER hurts our children?

I have two grown beautiful daughters and this picture has me in tears.
I called my two daughters yesterday just to hear their voices and thought about the parents of those children that will never hear their children's voices again because some MONSTER decided to end their lives.
WTF is wrong with this country?

18. It's called the NRA and the GOP
Sun Dec 16, 2012, 12:16 PM

Because the NRA makes sure that anyone can buy any type of gun out there even if we're talking about high powered assault rifles.

And because the GOP ensures that we don't provide the type of healthcare that includes mental health coverage.

Sure we can blame Adam Lanza - he pulled the trigger.

But standing behind Adam Lanza in spirirt was the NRA and the Republican Party all making sure that Adam has the ability to find and use the guns as he sees fit.

19. I wholeheartedly agree/

That criminal Reagan defunded mental health care in this country and things have been going downhill since then. I propose that we take from the MIC, end the wars, bring the troops home and use the money to properly fund mental health care, after all, the military can do without a few more planes and a couple of ships.

As far as the NRA, I'm a firm supporter of the 2A but I abhor the NRA and what they've done.
I do support tightening the gun laws in the country, I would at a minimum start with no more private sales without an NICS background check, better yet, all sales have to go through an FFL dealer, no exceptions. I would support having to attend and pass a safety class and prove compentency with a firearm, mandate that when not in use, firearms have to be secured in the home in a safe with stiff penalties if not. I'm sure there are other measures that would be fine and constitutional that I would support.

I'm still wresting with the AWB because in 94, it was worthless and did nothing, now I can be convinced to support a more stringent AWB but it would probably never pass the Congress.
All I know is that we as a country have to come together and somehow stop this madness without trampling on our rights.
