the best charitable things are done in secret. others are just self promotion.

I am assuming you know someone that is a pilot or works for AA ?

What little I know of the industry includes that they are cutting back on pilots and attendents wages like crazy and it's a disgrace. Meanwhile, the CEO walks away with bundles of cash.

And I am to think that money is not at the bottom of all this 'kindness' AA is extending to the victims familes and friends? It's about money, it's about exactly what is happening in this thread right here:

'Wow, isn't AA great. I'm going to be spending my money on Them now'.

We just never learn.

If AA was all that concerned and great they would have done this anonymously or claimed an anonymous donor is paying for these flights. It's all promo bullshit taking advantage of people's honest emotions. It makes me sick. and it should make everyone sick.

... in an industry that had some real bottom-feeders. I detested United Airlines, and thought it was no wonder they marketed to first-time and infrequent flyers. Northworst was disgusting. American knew how to treat their business travelers. They NEVER screwed up a seat assignment or meal choice or even baggage. (United fucked up on THIRTEEN consecutive flights with them!) Yes, I used to travel a LOT.

but the only way I would be impressed would be if the top management paid for these flights out of their own pockets. AA is in bankruptcy and the employees are, once again, taking a haircut for the poor management and poor decisions of the airline. In 2003 the employees took huge concessions to save the airline from BK while management made sure they had their bonuses and golden parachutes. There was never a snapback for the employees but the bonuses were paid every year, while the airline was losing money. Even now, management will get a huge payoff if they can come out of BK as a stand alone airline. The employees are all hoping that AA will merge with US Airways and AA's management team will be out. I'm scratching my head in wonder how a bankrupt airline can afford to give fights away. Don't get me wrong, I think it is great that they are doing this, but what is their true motif? As you can probably tell, I don't trust Horton (CEO) and the rest of the clowns who are running the airline.
