It's eye-opening to see what legislation the gun lobby opposes

I'm looking at a list at http://maplight.org/us-congress/interest/J6200/bills

The bills actively opposed by the gun lobby over the last few years includes such items as:

Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2011
Fix Gun Checks Act of 2011
Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Act
Democracy Is Strengthened by Casting Light On Spending in Elections Act of 2012
Gun Show Background Check Act of 2011
Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009
Bear Protection Act of 2009
Foreign Felon Gun Prohibition Act of 2007
Technological Resource to Assist Criminal Enforcement (TRACE) Act
To Amend the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 to Provide for Additional Reporting by Lobbying Firms
Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007
Polar Bear Protection Act of 2007
Clean Water Restoration Act of 2007

It seems as though they're not just against any kind of gun regulation. They also don't like environmental legislation that might limit their ability to hunt anything, anywhere. They don't want restrictions on the rights of felons to acquire guns. And perhaps most telling of all -- they're dead set against any kind of transparency in lobbying or electoral spending.

The accompanying list of the largest Congressional recipients of gun lobby money is also interesting, though hardly surprising: http://maplight.org/us-congress/interest/J6200

I will point out that the name of the bill can (and often when it comes to gun control) be unrelated to it's actual goals. They can name bills whatever they want. Names are often picked based on what polls better in 10 second sound bites. Best example, the Patriot Act. We all know that is nothing really "patriotic" about its content but what it allows the sponsor of the legislation to do is go on national TV at night and say "how can you seriously be opposed to the Patriot Act? Sir, are you not patriotic? Do you hate your country?". Then whoever is making a counter point is forced to explain their position in less than 30 seconds- which in reality is pretty much impossible. The end result is the person against the patriot act looks like a fool and the person for it seems like a true american hero.
