There are both mourning threads and firearms threads

in GD today. They're two separate kinds of threads, I think. Perhaps we can all respect the difference and keep the firearms arguments out of the threads of mourning.

Both are valid discussions in light of what has happened, but a thread mourning the death of all those children just doesn't seem to me to be a good place for arguments about firearms ownership and second amendment issues. A little respect for those who just wish to express their feelings about this tragedy seems like a good idea to me.

This might be a Meta thread, but it's something that is happening in GD. Just a little separation of thread types would help scale down some of the conflict, I think.

I agree that the gun apology threads are distinct, and that mourning is mourning.

But it does a disservice to remain in denial about the cause of the slaughter. Indeed, it sets up the next one.
