At new-hire orientation I gave our Hospital's workplace violence presentation

and covered the EOC disaster response.

When explained Code-Silver (active-shooter/hostage situation)
it was difficult to explain the hospital plan after watching the several days coverage and the constant conversations at work of the massacre of innocent school children and teachers.
it did bring home the point home that a shooting "can happen here" and you need to have a plan in place.


Even then, life will be a bitch. In spades.
