Obama's Promises on Social Security... his OWN words.

Promises on Social Security

What EVER happened to Raising-the Cap?
He was a fierce advocate for that.

We have examples of many "politicians" who run honest campaigns
and do EVERYTHING in their power to keep their promises.
They ARE a minority, but they ARE there.
You can find many in the Progressive Caucus.

The names Dennis Kucinich and Paul Wellstone come immediately to mind.
I will NOT make excuses FOR those who make promises they have no intention of keeping.
I don't, and they shouldn't either.

We should hold our representatives to a HIGHER standard,
not a lower one.

I have other video clips too, but the Topic Du Jour IS Social Security, The "Grand Bargain", and the fiscal cliff.
Lets stick to THAT topic, please.

There seems to be some confusion on DU about exactly WHAT our president has promised on this very important issue.
The OP should end any and all confusion.
EVERYBODY should be E-Mailing these clips to The President,
and their other reps, and re-posting them to other sites.

Most people never believed he said those things.

Just an observation.

and raise taxes? Well, let's make President Obama live up to his words. I'm all for going over that imaginary, ginned up cliff, if that's what it takes. You can't force the poorest and least able to fend for themselves people in the nation, senior citizens, to make the sacrifices so billionaires can have tax cuts. It's the most immoral thing a nation can do and it will lead to our fall, just like the Roman Empire, and other empires after it, if we do this. Look at history.

Who could know that beforehand? We are all told our democracy works. When it doesn't what can anyone do? What can YOU do?

He's a constitutional scholar and had held federal elected office. It's not like he was some guy from the mountains that learned to read when he was thirty.

If he didn't know exactly how the government works before he got into it, I'm even more horrified than I'd be if he was going back on a promise. We can see how fucked up it is and we're nowhere close to it.

University of Chicago said he was a Constitutional Law Professor, though. That seems scholarly.
