The National Quartering Association is America's foremost champion of Third Amendment rights. It is the only thing that keeps ultra-left-wing politicians like Obama, Pelosi, and Feinstein from sending soldiers to live with you in times of peace, or in times of war without compensation.
Already guest-room grabbers in Congress are coming for your unused space, perhaps kicking you out of your own God-given queen-size with the big flat screen TV, forcing you to sleep on the futon with only a portable TV that plays VHS tapes! The horror! Meanwhile this administration is being pressured by foreign interests into supporting a UN declaration that housing is a universal right. This is just a back-door UN cot-grab that they don't want you to know about. Next thing you know, government thugs will be at your door with a squad of Marines who want to sleep in your house. They may not have the same values as you. They may not be the same color as you!
Don't say it can't happen in America! It already has. Thousands of American families right now have a soldier, sailor, airman, marine or coast guard...er...person living in their homes!
Also, Obama is black. Did we mention that? 'Cause he totally is.
So tell your friends, I'm the NQA and I vote! They can have my spare bed when they can pry my house keys from my cold, dead hands.
and... as long as we are talking about anachronistic rights...

(39,154 posts)If this were real, then he would be pro-quartering, that is in favor of soldiers living with civilians. Of course there is probably a better name for National Quartering Association, but I could not think of an antonym for quartering.

(10 posts)My problem with them is that they don't defend all of our rights. Namely second amendment issues.

Last year, the Louisiana ACLU petitioned on behalf of Errol Houston Jr. of New Orleans in a case similar to the Florida one. Houston had been arrested for carrying an illegal weapon and marijuana possession; the charges were later refused -- but the gun was never returned. The ACLU then filed the suit, which is currently on their docket.
In 2007, the Texas ACLU, in partnership with the Texas affiliate of the NRA and the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition, published a report on how district attorneys and cops were abusing or ignoring law designed to protect the gun ownership rights of drivers.
Most notably, however, in 2008, the Nevada ACLU affiliate came right out and announced their support for second amendment rights, as a change in policy for the organization.
