In my town one store has sold over 300 assault rifles since Friday

"Lafayette firearm sales have risen sharply since the Newtown school shootings, local gun dealers said Tuesday, mostly because of concern that the federal government will try to ban semi-automatic weapons.

At Dave's Gun Shop, manager Jeremiah Deare said he could he not keep "sporting rifles" -- also known as semi-automatic, assault, tactical or modern rifles -— on the shelves.

"There's been a run on everything with sporting rifles. It's been crazy," Deare said. "Every sporting rifle that we had is gone."

He said customers have bought an estimated 300 semi-automatic rifles, from AK-47s to AR-15s, since Friday."

Sigh......I took a quick look at the yellow pages and we have at least 25 stores that specialize in firearms. That's not counting the big box stores that sell them. 300 sold at one store in 4 days...unbelievable.

never ceases to amaze.

If there was a fear of banning Oldsmobiles, their value would double.

We never learn.

Any gun control legislation come from the tragedy last week it needs to be retro active. Especially for these so called "assault weapon" and high capacity mags for them.

pay fair market value for the rifle. If we can take your house to build a road we can take your rifle to save a life. Oh, and we do pass laws that ban possession of things that were previously bought all the time. Bath salts and excasy being two examples.

better prices. If the gov offered retail or at least bluebook, it might be much more successful.

Ex post facto is a fairly large hurdle not easily overcome.

guns they have sold this last weekend. The Dick's Sporting Goods chain announced today that they were suspending sales of them, of course they are probably sold out of them anyway.
