There was a gun found in the trunk of his car (mother's car actually, he drove it to the school), but reports I've read differ on whether it was a rifle or shotgun.

but a wingnut friend of the hubster insists Lanza left the Bushmaster in the trunk and used some sort of long rifle. another conspiracy probably.

He used it to shoot his victims, a few times...he recovered the ammo from many of the bodies.

That is why the children died from multiple wounds from .223 rounds. Automatic pistols do not use those rounds

I gave him several links, and the dude still insists he's right, that he has info, or articles, that say different. I told him I'd be interested in seeing where he gets his info . . . I'm certain it's Alex Jones or one of those bat crap crazy websites. It's just so mind boggling when you prove the facts repeatedly and the person still denies.

As said before, they ALL reported that Lanza left the Bushmaster in the car and only had handguns in the school.

ALL media has been terrible on their reporting about this story. Even once law enforcement releases official information, many do not correct their wrong assertions. Some outlets (New York Daily News and The Sun) have been scammed by a felon known for suing anybody and anything for anything he can make up. Others rely on unsubstantiated reports from "relatives" or "acquaintances" without verifying those relationships.

Law enforcement in Newtown has said NOT to rely on any information which does not come from them. They have warned about hoaxers spreading lies - but the media is ignoring them.

The Newtown police are being very good about not releasing information during an investigation. For such a small town police force, they are handling this very professionally despite all the stress such an event has to have on them and on the community.

Other units are tracing the history of the guns used in the attack, while others are interviewing school personnel and students and others are probing the background of the shooter. Lanza had no job, never used social media, seemingly had no friends and rarely if ever had any contact with his brother or father. He did obtain a driver's license in July of 2010, three months after he turned 18, listing him as 5 feet 10 inches tall, with blue eyes and not an organ donor.

Two state police crime squads have been processing the evidence at the school, with the third one at the house.

Five days after the shootings investigators still are collecting bullets from inside and outside the school. Lanza fired so many rounds that many bullets pierced cars in the school parking lot.

Sources said that Nancy Lanza owned at least five guns and that all of them were purchased legally since her divorce in 2009.

Adam Lanza was carrying three weapons when he entered the school, two pistols and the Bushmaster rifle that he used to spray the hallway and two classrooms with bullets. A source said that he left a shotgun in the trunk of his mother's car, which he drove to the scene.
